Forgot to put this post in first
Last week took my lad to Anfield for a birthday treat so had a great day out
Next time he wants to go to watch a live match, told me that he wants to sit on the KOP end.
This blog is about my trials and tribulations of owning a 18 foot trailer sailer. Both have been Bradwell 18's that I grew up seeing on the River Trent in Nottingham. I first owned Holly a mk1 that I had lots of fun with and was sad to see her go. After a brief try of a larger Jaguar22 I decided to return to Bradwells and recently bought Y.KNOT a mk2 and have been impressed so far with the improvments over the older mk1 boats. Hope you enjoy reading my exploits as I share them.

End of year and more Things to do
Took HOLLY off the water a so I can look to another refit. I have ideas that I would like to complete for next year. I guess that you will never finish a project boat as that is part of the fun of ownership. My main aim this time round is to make HOLLY ready for some sea sailing, so over the next few months I will be looking to purchase a spray hood and putting a push pit with stanchions as I feel on an 18 footer these will be a priority.
I have just bid and won via eBay another set of sails this time off a prelude ( should of called the boat EBAY) due to the amount of items purchased off there including HOLLY herself. If i can keep costs down then i can prove to people that you can own and enjoy a good size trailer sailor without braking the bank.
As can be seen in the pictures there is a little collection of sailing cruisers including another Bradwell 18 called Little Nuke and a Jaguar 22 plus my caravan.

Sailing Weekend on the TRENT
With the fantastic weather this weekend took Holly out on the Trent, with the intention to sail her up to Cranfleet lock. This has given me another look at the new cruiser rig and to see how she handles compaired to the previous hybrid rig used last year. I have found there are more changes to be made and am hopefull that within the next month all problems can be ironed out. Unfortunatly the destination was that little bit to far before the jib sheet broke away but after a repair i sailed back to the sailing club to have a well deserved cup of tea. Another problem the starter cog on the honda outboard broke ( why is it made out of plastic?) so that will be a trip to the local dealer. I have given myself a list of jobs to keep me busy for the nex few weeks.

weekend testing
Took HOLLY down to the sailing club over the weekend to test the work so far and to give the engine a run.
Had a trip into Notts to catch up with some friends from work , and have a well deserved Drink. Hope to go down over the next few weekends so as to complete the trials of HOLLY's new rig.

The second Refit is going well and as can be seen the hull has been painted and is looking well. Have had a prouctive weekend as the mast that has been sourced has been fitted and i have instaled the vhf aerial just need to complete the conection and then that can be ticked off the to do list. I have to coplete the rigging and sort out the boom and fit the mast navigation light.

Start of 2010
Just a quick blog to say that i am now startting to get Holly ready for this season, and change the things that needed changing. The loverly paint job that was achieved last year is looking rather bad and will require painting to spruch her up again.
One major problem that i found was that the walkway and forcastle require scrapping back to gelcoat and then repainting.
Other things that are planned for this refit are to fit in a VHF dfc radio with areal attached to the mast
A mast navigation light
Change the mast to a propper cruiser mast so will be a masthead rig
When these are completed Holly should sail better than brfore.
